ok...i am breaking down and asking for ideas...support...anything. I just don't know what to do anymore...I've tried everything i can think of. So, Brayden has been super fussy lately. I feel like I am constantly fighting with him over everything...eating..sleeping...playing...he doesn't want to do anything but be fussy. He is obviously teething. His two bottom teeth keep floating around. They pop up and we think they are going to come through at any time and then they go back down. He is drooling like there is no tomorrow and wants to chomp on everything. I think one of the hardest things for me is that everyday is so painfully the same. We do the same things everyday and it is driving me nuts! Jason comes home from work and asks how are days was and what we did and it is always the same answer...nothing special..same thing we did yesterday. I know their is not a lot you can do with a 6 month old. We take walks...we play...i cherish nap times even if they only last 1/2 hour at a time. Brayden's sleep schedule has recently changed and that is also frustrating. I know teething is no fun for anyone....Motherhood is surely teaching me patience on a whole other level!
Now don't get me wrong...I love, love, love being a mom. It brings me such happiness and joy and i am so blessed to be able to have Brayden in my life. I do love being able to be a stay at home mom and I am so blessed to be able to do so...it is just frustrating at times and has its own unique set of challenges. I think it is a much harder job than actually being in the work force.
Does anyone have ideas of things we can do to change the routine? Any great teething ideas? We've done orajel, teething rings, Popsicles, teething tablets, Motrin... and if you don't have any ideas some friendly support would be terrific! thanks everyone!

Hey Emily I hear ya on the same old same everyday!! It's like a celebration every time Taylor comes home and I have a friend and some support! I'm not much help in the teething department my kids are really easy teethers all of a sudden out pops a tooth (probabaly won't make you feel any better) Anyway good luck!... being a Mom is the great most wonderful blessing I love it more than anything I have ever done. I would have a million babies if I could but it is a sacrifice and not easy thats for sure! So I have an idea for you... move to Vegas and then we could have fun together!!! Madden and Brayden would have a great time and so would we! Pretty good idea don't you think? Sorry such a long comment!!
Sometimes just waiting for the little phases to pass is all you can do. Time and patience are something we keep relearning everyday as moms.
Why don't you come see me and we can make some peach jam. I have some in the freezer waiting to be used.
Emily...I have totally felt all of the feelings that you wrote down. Being a stay-at-home mom is really, really hard. It is hard because it is so mind-numbing and you don't see the immediate success of all your work, especially when they are so young. Dallin wasn't good at taking naps either. He would take 2 or 3 half hour naps during the entire day and it drove me crazy because I never had any time to do what I wanted to do (it sunds selfish..but its not). I'm going to call you with some ideas that helped Dallin and I because we were right were you are.
Welcome to motherhood. I was just talking to oen of my friends about the monotany of motherhood. It is such a blessing, just as you said, but really monotanous and I feel , if you're not careful, can make you crazy. As far as the teething thign goes, it's just a stage that'll pass. It sounds like you're doing everything possible to ease the pain for him. As far as the eating, playing, sleeping thing, I have two words, "BABY WISE". It's a great book that talks about all those things. It truly makes happy babies. Read it. You can get it used on Amazon for practically nothing. As faar as you going crazy with the monotany I have a few tips: find a playgroup (it's more for you than Braden), find a really good friend to swtich off babysitting so you can have some freedom, and get involved in the community (reading at your library). I think you'll feel more balanced adn ahppier and Braden will be too. A happy mom= a happy baby. That's probably way too much advice!!! :)
I think one of the best things you can do when you are bored of the everyday, you don't fell like you are accomplishing anything fun, and you just need a switch up is to do some service. Now granted I don't have a 6 month old, but it could be something simple like making cookies and going to say hi to a neighbor or writing a note to someone who also needs some love. I find that when I'm thinking about someone else my troubles seem to melt away. That's the only think that has ever worked for me.
And as for the teething... well I've never had to endure that trial but I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Random idea: Sing? Primary Songs? That might drowned out the noise at least.
Make sure that you are always doing something special for you. I think sometimes stay at home moms can start to feel like they are losing their identity. While being a mom makes you happy, I'm sure, do something just for you. :) I don't know from personal experience yet but I have always found that in the busy schedule of life if you aren't doing something that's just for you then you have nothing to look forward to and nothing to keep you excited during tough times.
Try to keep smiling and remember that you are loved! Babies go through phases and I bet that he will soon be smiling again. Patience....the one part of life that is never that fun to learn! Soon you will be reminding me of the same things. :)
